Random thoughts on a cloudy and rainy football weekend:

1. Thistlekeeping is a little late today. We went to the football game last night to see my nephew play and somehow Thistlekeeping got lost in the shuffle.

But a little Thistlekeeping is better late than never. 🙂

2. I have the BEST nail polish to tell you all about. It looks just like gel when you put it on and it’s from Sally Hansen and under $6.

I put three coats on, let it set and then add a top coat and then I can go at least a week without my nails chipping.

You can see my go-to nail polish color I have on right now here.

And here’s the top coat that I use (it’s a little more of a splurge).

3. Did you see they are making a new Forsyte Saga show? It looks so good. You can see the trailer for the show here.

4. I just rediscovered Mary Higgins Clark. She is the BEST mystery author and her books are easy to follow (no going back and forth with the story) and not too gory and full of suspense.

I’m almost to the end of It Had To Be You. It’s SO GOOD.

You can see it here.

5. It was an amazing week on the blog. We chatted about:

6. November 1 is the official start of Christmas movie-watching time. Drop your favorites in the comments. We love “Window Wonderland” and “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

And now?

Let’s see all the inspiration I found for us this week (trust me—it’s a good one).

A silver tray displays a teapot, a small vase with greenery, and two brass candlesticks with white candles and greenery garlands. A white salt shaker sits nearby on a wooden table.

You know I’m all about a thrifted find.

And silver is speaking to me for the holidays.

See the ultimate guide to thrifting brass and silver here.

A clear glass Christmas ornament filled with dried white and yellow flowers hangs from a white ribbon, with green pine needles above, against a white background.

I love a handmade Christmas.

Look at these amazing DIY pressed floral glass ornaments.

You can see the how-to here.

White pumpkins with long, curved stems are artfully arranged against a dark background. Autumn leaves are scattered around, and a copper vase holds more leaves, creating a cozy, seasonal display.

These plush pumpkins have real stems.

And you can make them yourself.

You can see the DIY here.

Festive holiday scene with three chocolate pinecone-shaped desserts on a white plate, garnished with green sprigs. In the background, a mug of hot cocoa, a large mixing bowl, and ornaments add to the cozy ambiance.

These pinecone brownies are so next-level.

I read the directions and they didn’t look too hard to make.

You can see the recipe here.

A row of small, handmade quilted Christmas stockings in various colorful patchwork patterns is arranged on a white surface. The stockings feature reds, pinks, and other pastel shades.

A collection of small pine cone snowflakes arranged on a light wooden surface, creating a natural and rustic decoration.

This pinecone snowflake is such an easy craft.

And if you have pinecones in your yard it’s almost free.

A woman with long blonde hair, in a black-and-white checkered shirt, smiles brightly and holds a stack of book club books. The text above her reads "10 of the Best Books for Book Clubs." The image is from thistlewoodfarms.com.

And if you aren’t in a book club?

This is your sign.

It’s one of the best things I ever did for myself.

White Christmas is my favorite. Love the singing and dancing. Bought the DVD one year when we didn't have cable so I wouldn't miss it ever!

I have to agree that we love White Christmas and It’s a Wonderful Life, no holiday watching is complete without them. We also have a few Hallmark favorites, both were Hallmark Hall of Fame shows before Hallmark was a channel. ‘The Most Wonderful Time of the Year and The Christmas Card”. Plus my husband will watch anything with Lacey Chabert in it, lol.We also love the Three Wise Men and a Baby shows. On another note the pine cone brownies look good. The problem is the link to the cereal :( I really dislike when a blogger refuses to list a key ingredient brand and forces you to go to their Amazon link. I know you all make money that way but it is frustrating. especially when the link won’t open. Most that I follow are like you and say if you buy from the site you appreciate it. Thank you for that. I’ve made pine cone cup cakes before and would probably just use what that recipe called for.

Fabulous thistles this week, KA! And for those of us who entertain by hosting dinner parties and proper afternoon tea parties a dining room is a must. I love ours. It was fun to see I did a lot of those Old Wives' Tale hacks. Guess that's what I am; an old wife. LOL.

A separate dining room would be lovely but alas, my house is small. I don't think dining rooms are dead, but each family needs to assess their needs and plan accordingly. If I had one, I would probably have it be a multi-purpose area, maybe a library/dining room? Anyway, lots of pretty things to look at this week. I especially enjoyed the 16th century cottage.

Hi KariAnne- Thank you so much for sharing my mushroom ornaments! That was so kind of you. I love all the links you compiled. The quilt mittens and stockings garland is beyond adorable 🥰.
