Random thoughts on a sunny Saturday weekend:

1. I had oatmeal for supper last night. Don’t ask me why, but it really sounded good.

Until.

Until I dropped oatmeal from my spoon onto the end of my hair and spent the rest of the evening trying to brush it out.

2. I just finished the BEST historical fiction book. It’s a mystery. If you like art and you like history, this is the book for you.

It’s called The English Masterpiece and you can see it here.

3. I spoke at a conference this week in Waco. The conference was amazing, but being in Waco was a little sad.

It was the first time in 10 years that we didn’t have any children going to school there.

4. It was a fun week on the blog. We discussed:

5. Just in case you were wondering? I’m all about wearing a cape right now.

It’s a superhero kind of fall.

And now?

Let’s celebrate this weekend with a little inspiration.

Here are all my favorite links from this week.

A close-up of a colorful bouquet featuring pink and white strawflowers, magenta globe amaranth, and other assorted flowers and greenery, with sunlight highlighting their vibrant textures.

This fall craft stopped me in my tracks.

Look at those vibrant colors.

You can see the entire DIY here.

A slice of carrot cake with icing sits on an ornate floral plate beside a silver fork, with fresh carrots and green tops visible in the background.

There’s nothing better for fall than a spice cake or carrot cake.

And this one looks delicious.

You can see the recipe here.

A small grapevine wreath, green foliage, red berries, and purple flowers are arranged on a light marble surface.

This DIY fall wreath project uses Sedum.

I didn’t know that it kind of dries in place without water.

You can see the DIY here.

Spellbinding Halloween: a mystical black pumpkin with a chalkboard word find, accompanied by scattered wooden alphabet blocks and a burlap pouch, evoking an aura of autumnal magic and mystery.

This is the chalkboard pumpkin that I shared above.

It’s such an easy fall project.

You can see the how-to here.

I love the perspective of this concept

A cozy autumn-themed decor display featuring a rustic house model on a pedestal, an open book with dried wheat, and a vase with dried flowers and wood slices, set against a background of shelves with pottery and miniature houses.

A blue and white vase filled with pink roses beside the handwritten text "One More For the Road" on a white background.

I took this picture last night when the sun was streaming in through the windows.

This vase is full of DIY wood slice branches.

// Christmas tree candles //

My favorite finds

These candles are so cute with a remote and a timer and they feel like wax and the flicker on the candle looks so real. They sold out last year, so I wanted to share them a little early.

You can see them here.

A small, decorative gingerbread house with pink and white icing details, heart motifs, and a striped candy cane chimney, set against a plain white background.

A circular logo with "THISTLEWOOD & CO MERCANTILE" and a flower, next to the text "Look What's New in the Shop" in a modern script font.

Look what just dropped in the shop.

Our favorite house artist has created a limited edition holiday gingerbread cottage collection.

If you subscribe to our newsletter, then you were able to shop early.

Shop the entire collection here.

A small decorative model house with a black roof, a red "Merry Christmas" sign above the door, a miniature wreath, and colorful string lights surrounding the wooden base.

And you asked—we listened.

We also just dropped the cutest Christmas cottages, too.

You can shop them all here.

Happy random Saturday to you

Thanks so much for sharing my broom!! It's been a fab for NH gardeners. Oh, you wear a cape and I'm taking out my crocheted poncho today (my mom made me the 'Martha leaving prison' one years ago)...we will be stylin across the country!

Dear KariAnne, you inspired with every post. I am trying to mimic your beautiful front porch. I have suggested your last book recommendation to my little book club and thumbs up!! It looks fabulous. I have 2 little nieces, 6 and 9. I am ordering your sweet gingerbread houses for each of their bedrooms. Their grandma (Gigi and my mom) bought each of them a skinny white tree with pretty light colored lights. Gigi is in heaven now but I know if I showed her your sweet gingerbread houses she would have bought them on the spot. I’m ordering now. Thank you so much for presenting inspiration and bringing us beautiful homemade gifts. Happy Fall

As always I enjoyed all the treasures you found for your readers. Thank you for all the inspiration. And the Christmas houses in your store? She makes the cutest houses!!!!!
